Agar substitutebydoc34polish transl. http://www.psilosophy.info/xzzfczeqakfoadbwchagcpay
original report: http://www.shroomery.org/8514/Agar-substitute Those of you who would like to study mycelium and can't find agar, can't afford it, or whatever your reason may be, can use this little technique. This tek is very newbie friendly, cheap to prepare, and some seasoned cultivators may find it useful as well. All of the ingredients combined = Total cost, $1.50 (current price of Rice). The Tyvek can be obtained at your local Post Office for freePriority Mail Envelopes.
Ingredients:
Preparation of media(for each jar):
For a thinner layer:
To inoculate with a spore syringe (multispore) simply flame needle, wipe with alcohol, and plunge syringe in through the polyfill, tyvek and inject 1 (one) drop of spore solution in the center of media.
This colonizes 100% in about 2 weeks or less (less using the thin layer) .
Once you have the growth you are looking for you can transfer a wedge to the grain of your choice. This is has worked well for me, and I hope you can find it useful. | |||||||||
